These works are deeply rooted in my own experiences as a year-round open sea swimmer. Although a figure of a swimmer is absent, the entire scene in these works is depicted from the swimmer’s perspective and therefore emotionally charged. Living by the sea, I know it in all its changeability. It is ever present and ever changing. Every swim is different and I want to document these experiences through different lighting, perspective, colour palette and mark making.
